Mission & History
AcroSports is a non-profit organization whose mission is to teach and develop the physical, performing and circus arts. We commit ourselves to serving our community in a safe, positive environment, offering activities that encourage teamwork and build strengths and self-esteem, and enhancing life's experience.
Founded in 1993, AcroSports, a nonprofit corporation, is located in the landmark Poly Gym across from San Francisco’s Kezar Stadium - parts of the old high school saved by the community to become centers for recreation, learning and sports.
With volunteer labor, high spirits and community support, AcroSports staff, families and friends turned the East gym from an abandoned pigeon roost into an approximately 10,000 square foot facility with full gymnastics equipment and circus rigging along with supporting office, exercise, and art space.
AcroSports is run by a volunteer Board of Directors, staffed by professionals and supported by parents, students, and friends. The staff at AcroSports is determined to remain the best by attracting and training talented individuals in acrobatics, dance, gymnastics and the circus arts. We are committed to safety and to working appropriately and effectively with students of varying experience and ability.
AcroSports serves over 9,000 children and adults a year in ongoing programs at all levels of experience and ability. AcroSports reaches out to the community and works with schools, various city programs and other non-profit organizations. We are committed to offering scholarships by providing the AcroSports experience to students of all economic backgrounds.
Please feel free to stop by and visit this unique facility, or give us a call for more information about our wide range of programming.
