AcroSports Mobile Arts Training

AcroSports Mobile Arts Training (M.A.T.)
Bring the excitement of gymnastics, circus arts and dance to your school!
AcroSports has offered classes in the physical, performance and circus arts to thousands of San Francisco residents at our site on Frederick Street since we opened our doors in 1993. Due to the popularity of our program, we have launched an Off-Site component that brings AcroSports’ programming to schools. Our mobile physical arts program currently visits several San Francisco schools, including June Jordan High School, Jean Parker Elementary, Buena Vista E.S., Columbia Boys and Girls Club, Children's Day
School, Haight Ashbury Co-op, Hop-A-Long Preschool, Learning Bridge Preschool, Sweet P's Preschool, Circle of Friends, Cleveland E.S., Live Oak School, Monroe Elementary, Little People's Workshop, St Paul's
Littlest Angel, St Phillips, Mission YMCA, Ocean Shore E.S., St Finn Barr, and the Youth Guidance Center
"This is the 2nd year most of our 5th graders have participated
in your program. It is really wonderful to see the growth in our
kids both in their acrobatic skills and in their self-esteem and
body/spacial awareness. I see students who would otherwise by shy and
reserved come to life both in the program and in regular class.
The interaction between students and the AcroSports coaches is
wonderful to watch. I see nothing but respect towards each other.
It is important for some of our kids to know that adults do respect kids.
Thank you for all you patience and efforts with our students.
I just love what you do for Jean Parker!"
Celia Magtoto
5th grade teacher, Jean Parker Elementary School
"AcroSports has been a wonderful experience
for our scholars. They have thoroughly enjoyed
the Saturday gymnastics class. Chagua and
Toni are the best!"
Tamitrus Rice-Mitchell
Project Manager SFUSD Dream Schools
"AcroSports is great! We have
seen our children develop
flexibility, muscle strength, and
physical confidence and
competence."
Darcy Campbell
Director of Cow Hollow Preschool
"As a result of taking capoeira class, the students
have discovered they possess athletic abilities
they previously were not aware of. Students have
learned to stretch, tumble, and flip their bodies in
a healthy celebration of their youth and individual
athletic expression"
Many thanks and praises from
the family and community of
Community High.
Philosophy
AcroSports philosophy is to make each student feel successful and confident regardless of skill level. We work toward this by breaking down each new skill into small, achievable steps appropriate for the student’s mental, physical, and emotional development. Our physical education program helps students build strength, flexibility and agility while improving their coordination and body control. In addition, the use of positive reinforcement helps develop self-confidence, creativity and independence.

Service to over 20 schools (public and private preschools, elementary, middle, and high schools) and community centers (YMCA and Boys & Girls clubs) translates to nearly 500 students throughout the Bay Area that participate in the AcroSports' Mobile Arts Training (M.A.T.). AcroSports' M.A.T. is a mixture of physical arts and self-empowerment. AcroSports' goals are to build community, develop healthy relationships as well as physical skills. We are happy to discuss the various off-site options available and help you decide what would be the best fit for your particular group.

Off-site coaches are First-Aid trained and CPR certified and bring at least 2 years of coaching experience to their jobs.
Many of our coaches are also successful local performance artists whose specialties include artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, circus arts, capoeira, aerial arts, ballet, modern and ethnic dance.
