  • When did you start with AcroSports?

    1993

  • Please share any relevant background experience you'd like to have included.

I hold a degree in Health Education from San Francisco State University.
I have always believed that physical education is instrumental in developing a healthy lifestyle.

My professional journey has been driven by a passion for promoting physical education and fostering a healthy lifestyle. When the opportunity arose to make a significant impact on my community, I seized it with enthusiasm.

One of the pivotal moments in my career was when I had the chance to establish a physical, performance, and circus arts school. This venture began in the abandoned gym located next door to my home.

Prior to founding AcroSports, I had been actively engaged with the Mayor’s Office of Housing (MOH) and various local community boards and committees. My involvement included planning for the future use of the Poly High gyms, a task that initially felt overwhelming but only fueled my motivation to see these spaces transform into centers where students of all ages and abilities can enjoy and benefit from the wide range of services we provide.

My mission was to create an inclusive and supportive environment where individuals can access physical education and performance training. I am dedicated to promoting a healthy lifestyle and fostering success not only in schools but in our state of the art facility on Frederick Street by making physical, performance and circus arts training opportunities readily available

  • What do you most enjoy about the work you do?

I take great pride in my involvement with local community boards and committees and other non profit organizations that allows me to be an active participant in shaping the future of my community.

Transforming the gym into a state of the art facility that improves every year is also very exciting to me. It brings me great satisfaction to upgrade and maintain our beautiful art deco building that creates a positive presence in the neighborhood.

Knowing that AcroSports offers a space where people of all ages and abilities can train, perform, celebrate, have fun while making positive changes in their health and well being is one of the most rewarding aspects of my job.

  • What do you do for fun when you’re not in the gym?

When I’m not working, I have a lot of interests that bring me joy and balance to my life.. I love traveling and I am always up for new adventures and experiences in different corners of the world where I love exploring new cultures and cuisines. I have travelled to 6 out of 7 continents with Antartica the only remaining one to explore.

Gardening is another hobby that brings me joy. I love growing my own herbs, lettuces and flowers in my plot at Golden Gate Park’s CommUNITY garden, and tending to my flowerboxes that line the balcony on my deck. The garden, dedicated to me, along the walkway at AcroSports is a show stopper. It is designed to have plants blooming all year long. It is so rewarding to see visitors arriving at the gym to take a moment to enjoy the plantings.

I also love to entertain and plan for creative dinner parties that include well thought out menus, decor and table settings that bring my friends and family together that make lasting memories.

Walking with my husband Jack and Marley, my dog, every morning in Golden Gate Park is a wonderful way to begin my day. The vegetation in Golden Gate Park always changes throughout the year and I never have found a time where at some point during my hike that I am in awe with the beauty surrounding us.

Above all, spending quality time with my family brings me the most happiness. Whether it’s enjoying a meal together, taking family trips, or just hanging out with my grandchildren, these moments create cherished memories and bring us closer together.
