Welcoming our New Outback Mural

Welcoming Our New Mural

Did you catch the new mural in the Outback?! You should definitely check it out. With the unveiling of our new mural, we reflect on how AcroSports continues to grow while staying true to the values that have always defined us. Where the previous mural honored our ties to circus tradition, this new work celebrates the spirit of innovation that fills our space today.

The new mural reflects the energy of modern movement practices such as parkour and breakdancing — forms that embody creativity, courage, and the freedom to explore new possibilities. Just as the earlier mural spoke to the history that shaped us, this new piece speaks to the evolving story of who we are now and the community we continue to build together.

As it takes its place on our walls, the mural captures the pulse of our community: bold, adventurous, and ever-evolving. AcroSports hopes to honor the present while inspiring others to keep reaching toward what comes next.

Message from the Artist Darin Balaban:

I’m a visual artist and muralist whose work blends a graffiti background with contemporary fine art. My practice explores color, shape, and movement, transforming public and private spaces into immersive, energetic environments. Inspired by skateboarding, architecture, and the communities I work with, I aim to create work that feels alive and deeply connected to its surroundings.

This mural pulls directly from the energy of AcroSports—the flips, climbs, and rotations that define the space. Abstract shapes echo the padded equipment and movements in motion, with swirls and vibrant forms capturing the gym’s playful, kinetic spirit. My hope is that both kids and adults see themselves in the colors and energy of the piece.

Big thanks to AcroSports and everyone involved in making this happen. A very special shoutout to Bud Snow—without her assist, I wouldn’t have been able to complete the mural in such a short span. I also want to thank 14th Street Supply for always providing me with the best paint in the Bay Area. You can find more of my work on Instagram at @darinbalaban.
