2021 Winter Camp Cancelled
For the safety of our children, families and staff, AcroSports will not be offering Winter Camp this year.
We have so far been cautious in our gradual relaunch of programming, and this recent decision is an extension of that caution. Our primary reason for cancelling camp is in order to decrease the risk of exposure to COVID-19, as well as a potential seasonal flu outbreak this holiday season.
Many of the children who attend camp come from different schools across San Francisco. An exposure in our camp would thus have the capacity to reach many of these schools & their students when the children return in January, as well as the wide network of families that many will be spending time with over the holidays. While undoubtedly the camp closure will be a disappointment to many, ultimately it will help ensure the health of the greater community.
We will be reassured that our staff will return after the holiday break healthy and rested, prepared and ready to coach our Winter Session of classes beginning January 3.
Have a happy, healthy and safe holiday season!
AcroSports Camps offer fun-filled weeks of jumping, bouncing, climbing and clowning around for ages 4.5-12.
Engaging in challenging physical activities like tumbling, dancing and circus arts gives kids a chance to build strength, flexibility, and mind/body awareness, while also promoting the notion that challenging new skills can be achieved through the application of effort.
The majority of our Camp offerings are Acro Camp, in which children aged 6-12 are introduced to various circus disciplines including tumbling, juggling, clowning, dance and aerial arts. Campers also have the opportunity to engage in art projects, cooperative group games, free play, and will also spend some time outdoors. At the end of every week, campers get to show off their new skills in a performance for family & friends. Every camp session has a different theme that frames the week’s activities and final show, so no two weeks are the same! Campers who attend multiple sessions will not have the same experience twice. **Note that for Summer 2021, we may need to change the format of end-of-camp shows, depending on current health directives at the time.
AcroSports also offers Speciality Camps in the summertime for ages 8-12, some full-day and some half-day, that explore many of the other disciplines AcroSports offers. Specialty Camps offered can vary from year to year, but generally include Girls’ Gymnastics, Parkour, and/or Tumbling at varying skill levels. **Some of these may have skill-level prerequisites, so please note what those are in the Camp description. A complete list of the coming summer’s Specialty Camps is posted shortly before Summer Camp registration opens, usually in mid-February.
Younger students aged 4.5-6 can enroll in AcroCamp Jr. The “junior” Camp follows the same format and explores the same disciplines as standard Acro Camp, but with the curriculum targeted toward a slightly younger age group, and staffed by coaches who are well versed at working with this demographic.
