Skill-a-Thon 2025

Our annual Skill-a-Thon is back! Students will show off their favorite AcroSports skills while raising funds for our Tuition Assistance Program, helping make AcroSports programing accessible to more families in our community.

Why This Matters: Last year, we awarded over $40,000 in tuition assistance to 102 families, helping offset costs for classes and camps for students of all ages. Your fundraising directly supports keeping our doors open to everyone, regardless of financial circumstances.

How it works: Students collect pledges from family and friends, then perform as many skills as they can in one minute during their regular class time. Our collective goal is 5,000 skills and $10,000 raised.

Grand Prize:

Our top fundraiser will win 4 tickets to Cirque du Soleil’s ECHO, a perfect way to celebrate your support of circus arts in our community!

Other Prizes:

  • $1 – $20: AcroSports Sticker Sheet
  • $21 – $75: AcroSports Journal or Water bottle
  • $76 – $150: AcroSports t-shirt or hat
  • $151 – $200: AcroSports duffel bag or crew sweatshirt

Key dates:

  • October 13-19: Pledge forms go home
  • October 27-November 2: Skill-a-Thon happens during class
  • November 9: Deadline to return pledge sheets and collect prizes

Every participant earns prizes based on funds raised, from sticker sheets to crew sweatshirts. We’ll also recognize our top cartwheel performer and highest fundraiser in the newsletter.

General Info

Q: What is the Skill-A-Thon?
A:
It’s a fun, fundraising event where students show off their skills during class! They’ll perform as many of a chosen skill as they can in 1 minute (cartwheels, vaults, climbs, etc.). It’s similar to a jog-a-thon, but with gymnastics/parkour/aerial skills instead of laps!

Q: Why are we doing this event?
A:
The Skill-A-Thon raises funds for our non-profit’s Tuition Assistance Program, helping make our programs accessible to more families. Our fundraising goal this year is $10,000!

Q: Who can participate?
A:
All Youth Program students are welcome and encouraged to join in during their regular classes.

Q: Where does it take place?
A: Right here at AcroSports, during each student’s regularly scheduled class the week of October 27th – November 2nd (Halloween week!).

Important Dates & Process

Q: When does it all happen?
A: Here are the important dates.

  • Oct 13–26: Students get a donation form from their coach to take home. They collect written pledges from friends and family.
  • Oct 27–Nov 2: During class, students complete their “1-minute skill challenge.”
  • Nov 3–10: Students collect their pledged donations (cash or check) and turn them in to the office.

Q: What happens after students turn in their donations?
A:
They’ll receive prizes based on how much they raised! Prizes will be handed out after all donations are collected.

Donations & Pledges

Q: How do pledges work?
A:
Supporters can pledge either: a per-skill amount (e.g., $1 per cartwheel), OR a flat donation (e.g., $20 total). After the student completes their Skill-A-Thon, families calculate the total and collect the donation.

Q: How do we turn in the money?
A:
All donations (cash or check) should be brought to the front desk between Nov 3rd – 10th. Checks can be made out to AcroSports.

Q: Can donations be made online?
A:
Not this year! At this time, we’re only accepting cash or check donations.

Prizes & Recognition

Q: What kinds of prizes can students earn?
A:
Prizes are awarded based on the total amount raised:

$1 – $20 raised: AcroSports sticker sheet

$21 – $75: AcroSports journal or waterbottle

$76 – $150: AcroSports t-shirt or hat

$151 – $200: AcroSports duffel bag or crew sweatshirt

Q: When will prizes be distributed?
A: After Nov 10, students can turn in their donations to the office and claim their prize.

Halloween Week Details

Q: Do students wear costumes during Skill-A-Thon week?
A:
Costumes are welcome as long as they’re safe for movement-no masks, capes, or loose accessories that could get in the way.

Q: Will this replace regular class time?
A:
No. Skill-A-Thon activities will happen during class and students will still get their regular instruction and fun!

Other Questions

Q: What if my child can’t attend class that week?
A:
If a student misses their class, they can talk to their coach about a make-up opportunity the week before or after to complete their skills in class.

Q: Is participation required?
A:
No, it’s completely optional, but we encourage everyone to join in the fun and support the cause!

Q: Who can I contact if I have more questions?
A
: Parents can email er**@********ts.org or ask at the front desk, and we’ll be happy to help!
