When did you start with AcroSports?
2024
Tell us a bit about your background and experience.
Kadir’s unconventional acro journey began in 2008 when he developed software to help a Japanese humanoid robot, CB2, stand and balance with a human partner. This early experience unknowingly laid the foundation for his future partner acro practice.
In 2015, Kadir co-organized a 3-day yoga festival on the college campus with over 1,000 participants. There were no acro classes in Turkey at the time, so Kadir ended up offering a series of acroyoga workshops before he took any formal acro training himself.
After moving to San Francisco in 2016, Kadir began facilitating weekly acroyoga classes at various studios. Over the last five years, he has trained with Axis and Pilobolus Dance Companies, expanding his acro practice with a focus on explorative and relational movement.
What do you most enjoy about the work you do?
I enjoy creating shared experiences and movement dialogues that emerge from not knowing and exploring the unknown.
What do you do for fun when you’re not in the gym?
Unicycling, restoring an old boat, sailing, being close to water.
