Building Updates From the Executive Director

AcroSports has always been a major advocate for safety in the programs we offer to the community, and we have chosen to use this down time to make upgrades to our facility that will further support that focus. All of the renovations we’ve completed in the gym during this closure are real “Wow Factor” items that you will certainly notice right away upon returning to AcroSports!

Thanks to our receipt of a PPP loan in April, we were able to hire a team of riggers to complete a project we had initially planned to tackle next year – the installation of a new aerial truss (please note only the riggers’ payroll was covered by the loan!).  This truss was needed to replace the existing beam clamps, which were putting undue stress on the building steel.  This project also includes installation of new curtain tracks and blackout drapes for the west wall windows above the main floor, and a trapeze above the pit, so students can train advanced tricks more safely.

Here is an animation of the construction model that will  introduce you to the exciting new rigging work happening at Acrosports.

As I write this, a crew of painters is finishing up a complete repainting of the main gym walls and upstairs bleachers.  The photo above/below shows a panoramic view of the main floor once it had been cleared away and scaffolding erected in preparation for the painting.  Once the paint is dry, the riggers will return for the final phase of hanging the new blackout curtains, and the transformation will be complete!

Our goal is to have the gym updated and prepared to resume as many program offerings as soon as is safely possible. As always, the health and well-being of our staff and community are our highest priority. Thank you for your support and understanding as we thoughtfully approach reopening AcroSports.  Please stay safe and take care of yourselves, your families and your loved ones. Keep your head up, stay positive and keep moving, I know that we’re going to get through this.
